Tomboy Stable Version 1.2.0 Released

Tomboy Stable Version 1.2.0 is the latest and newest release of the desktop note-taking application. New features since the 1.0.x series include:

  • Automatic background note synchronization
  • Safer and less confusing note renaming behavior
  • Copy rich text to Evolution, OpenOffice.org, etc (requires gtk# >= 2.12.10)
  • Jump List support on Windows 7
  • Almost instant startup
  • Translation updates: bn, da, el, eu, fi, gl, it, ko, nb, lt, pa, pt, ru, sv, uk
  • And much more

Tomboy is an application for Linux and Unix; Windows and Mac OS X versions are also available.

Instructions for installing a Tomboy Windows release

  1. Make sure at least .NET 3.5 is installed (this should be included by default in Vista and Windows 7, but may require an additional install for Windows XP)
  2. Install Novell’s gtk-sharp 2.12.8 or newer.
  3. Restart
  4. Download and run Tomboy installer
  5. Done

Instructions for installing a Tomboy Mac release

  1. Install Mono for Mac OS X.
  2. Download the Tomboy disk image.
  3. Open the disk image, and drag Tomboy.app to Applications folder (due to a bug in the disk image it may be difficult to select the Tomboy.app. If so, try selecting it by dragging a square around it).
  4. Open Tomboy.app and Done

Tomboy is now available for download.
