UMIL (Unified MOD Install Library) was built by EXreaction under the supervision of the MOD Team. This utility enables MOD Authors to create simple installation scripts for their MOD that allow the user to install, update, or uninstall a Modification quickly.

UMIL is a library for MOD authors that enables them to easily create database installation and update scripts for their MODs. It provides unified methods to access phpBB’s API for adding modules, adding permissions, modifying the database, and more.

phpBB requires MODs containing UMIL that are submitted to the MODDB to contain this new version. In order to update the UMIL release included with MOD just replace the old UMIL folder with the new one, no other changes are required.

The Unified MOD Install Library (UMIL) is released under the GNU GPL license, it is included within MOD Packages to make MOD Installations simple and automatic.

phpBB is a popular Internet forum package written in the PHP scripting language. The name "phpBB" is an abbreviation of PHP Bulletin Board. Available under the GNU General Public License, phpBB is free software.

phpBB advices to all who already have updated to 3.0.7 that it is of critical importance to update to 3.0.7-PL1.

A critical bug the permission handling for feeds in 3.0.7 makes it possible for users to bypass permission settings under the following circumstances:

• Feeds are enabled
• Any of the posts or topics feeds are enabled
• The unauthorised user – or one of the groups they are a member of – have forum permissions set on a private forum
• If user has excluded a forum from the list of forums that provide feeds, it is unaffected

phpBB recommends the use of a regular update routine over manually editing files. phpBB board will not recognize the update if the board was edited manually.

Login

The STK was designed with a secondary login system which allows you to login if you are no longer able to login through phpBB3.

If you are locked out of your board, the STK can generate a new password file (25 characters) for you to use. You must download this file and upload it into the stk/ directory on your server. Once the file is uploaded you can login using the secondary login (as long as you are not logged into phpBB3 already). The generated password file expires 6 hours after creation and you will need to generate a new password to use this login method again.

Support tools

This category contains tools that perform support related tasks.

• Auto Cookies: Allows you to change the cookie settings.
• Database Cleaner: Allows you to reset certain parts of your phpBB boards database to its original setup (removes all database modifications).
• Fix Left/Right ID's: Repairs the tree structure of the forums and modules.
• Re-cache moderators: Allows you to repopulate the moderator cache table in the database.
• Reclean Usernames: Resets the username_clean entries in the users table.
• Recreate Module Management: Recreates the Module Management modules in the ACP in case they were removed (the modules that allow you to add/change/remove other modules).
• Remove duplicate permissions: Removes duplicate permissions which can break the auth system.
• Reset Styles: Allows you to set the board and user defaults to a specific style.
• Sanitise Anonymous user: Reset the anonymous user to its correct state.

Admin tools

This category contains tools that can help an administrator maintain his board.

* Profile List: An advanced memberlist which allows you to easily filter users.
* Purge Cache: Purge the boards cache.
* Reparse BBCode: Reparses the BBCode for the boards posts.
* Run SQL Query: Allows you to run an SQL query on your database and view the results.

User/Group tools

This category contains tools that perform user or user group related tasks.

* Add user: Allows you to easily add new users to the board.
* Change password: Allows you to change a password for a user.
* Manage board founders: Allows you to quickly manage the users with founder privilages.
* Resynchronise newly registered users: Allows you to resynchronise the "newly registered users" group.

Emergency tools

The STK contains some tools to provide emergency repairs on the phpBB3 system under some events automatically. These emergency repairs will only happen if something critical to initializing phpBB3 has failed.

* Rebuild config.php: If the phpBB config file is missing the STK will show you a screen that you can use to re-create the config file.
* Reset style: If the STK sees that there is no style set it will try to install a style that is available on the file system.

The bugs fixed in phpBB 3.0.7 ensure a smooth operation of installed forum. phpBB support team will only support phpBB 3.0.7 from now, submissions to their trackers for older versions will not be accepted, please make sure update before submitting any bug reports.
