Once installed, the add-in adds two menu items to the File menu (Office 2003) or the Office Button menu: Open from Moodle and Save to Moodle. First enter the address of Moodle and the log in credentials, then browse through course files on specified Moodle. Once added, teachers can view the list of courses enrolled in. Naturally, students and others can access the content directly from Moodle as they normally would.

Office Add-in for Moodle requires Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or higher, so it will not work on Mac OS X version of Office. It works on Moodle 1.8-1.9 out of the box with no modifications to the Moodle site.

Currently, the Office Add-in for Moodle has localized versions in German (de-de), International English (en-gb), Spanish (es-es), French (fr-fr), Italian (it-it) and Portuguese (pt-br).
