Three months after the release of 1.2 Final, ImpressCMS announced the release of 1.2.1 Final, which is a Final Release and is ready for use on production site.

Released 1.2.1 Final resolved some issues regarding the followings:

  • Control Panel
  • Core Functionality
  • Design & Templates
  • Installation Process
  • Registration Process
  • Upgrade Process

ImpressCMS is an open source content management system. The ImpressCMS Project was formed in late 2007 as a result of a division in the XOOPS community. The community focus is more on projects and tasks, then on roles and teams.

ImpressCMS has native multilingual support, which is OFF by default, but can be easily activated through the Control Panel.

Many php applications have all the files reside in a folder in the web root of a server, which is exposed and is accessible through a web browser. For better security, ImpressCMS implements the concept of a trust path. An important file that contains all important information, for example database log in details, is placed outside of the web root. So it will still be accessible by PHP scripts, but not directly with a web browser.

Version 1.2 is a huge release for ImpressCMS as there are many fundamental code changes. The next planned released is ImpressCMS 1.3, which will focus on performance and speed through optimization and standardization. Only 1 new feature will be added, a revised admin control panel.

ImpressCMS is released under the GNU General Public License. ImpressCMS is available for free and anyone can use it and modify it to their own extend.
