China Baidu And Japan Rakuten Announce Joint Venture to Establish Chinese Mega Online Mall
Baidu, China largest search engine and third largest in the world, and Rakuten, Japan largest e-commerce company, announce a joint venture aiming to establish and operate China largest online shopping mall.
The online shopping mall will create a platform for other businesses to establish their internet outlets to provide products and services to the vast number of Chinese internet users, which is estimated to be around 384 million users in 2009.
In the future, the Chinese online shopping mall and Rakuten Japanese could be linked up to allow Chinese and Japanese businesses to promote their services and products in both markets.
The online shopping mall is expected to start operating within this year (2010).
