Apache Cayenne 3.0 Released

Apache Cayenne is an open source persistence framework licensed under the Apache License, providing object-relational mapping (ORM) and remoting services. Cayenne seamlessly binds one or more database schemas directly to Java objects, managing atomic commit and rollbacks, SQL generation, joins, sequences, and more.

Cayenne 3 is already in use in large corporate installations, universities and other businesses driving web sites and other software.

Movable Type 5.02 Released

Movable Type 5.02 was released by Six Apart today. This is strictly a bugfix release without new features. It contains fixes for a number of issues including one security vulnerability. It is highly recommended that all users of Movable Type 5.x upgrade their installations, especially the ones with multiple users.

Without editing code, users is able to modify both the appearance and features with its plugin architecture.
There are 2 versions of Serendipity available for download. The FULL release contains everything you need, wheras the LITE release only provides the default template and does not have the dummy stub files you need to setup a shared installation (which is for advanced users only).

Midgard2 10.05 “Ratatoskr” Released

The Midgard Project has released the first release of Midgard2 10.05 “Ratatoskr” LTS. Ratatoskr LTS is a Long Term Support version of Midgard2 Content Repository.

Midgard2 10.05 is targeted at web framework and desktop application developers. It provides a comprehensive set of content repository APIs that can be used to build replicated information applications that share their information using a common storage layer and replication tools.

In this release:

Content Repository API bindings for the following programming languages: C, Python, PHP, C# and Vala. D-Bus signals are used to inform different Midgard2 applications about things happening in the repository, enabling for example a PHP website and a Python background process to communicate with each other.
Midgard MVC, an elegant framework for PHP web applications. Midgard MVC includes interfaces for loadable components, hierarchical sub-requests, a forms system and much more.
Midgard Runtime that combines the Midgard MVC, a PHP application server and a WebKit UI to provide a full Midgard web development environment on the desktop.

Midgard2 10.05 "Ratatoskr" was released on 06 May 2010.

The Midgard core libraries are distributed under the GNU Library General Public License (LGPL), official Documentation and the Midgard website are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license which supports the free usage principles defined by the GPL for code.

Applications developed using the Midgard PHP and XML-RPC interfaces (APIs) can be copyrighted and licensed under any terms by their authors, enabling creation of commercial products and solutions based on the platform.

Haiku Project Announces Haiku R1/Alpha 2

The Haiku Project is proud to announce the availability of Haiku R1A2, its second official alpha release. Haiku is an open source operating system that specifically targets personal computing intended for desktop use. Alpha 2 is a stable development release and a milestone on the way to the upcoming Release 1.

Eight months ago the Haiku Project released its first alpha, making many aware of its presence. Alpha 2 is the direct result of the contributions of many volunteers from around the world. With it the project hopes to entice more people to contribute, growing the project and reaching the goals for R1, and beyond.

The Haiku developer team is excited to have this improved version available to a wider audience and more extensively tested, and invites the public to help improve the quality of Haiku.

The Haiku Project is a volunteer based initiative started on August 18th, 2001, whose goal is to develop and promote the adoption of Haiku, an operating system which is fast and responsive, easy to use, powerful and enjoyable for everyone, both users and developers. Haiku is not a Linux distribution, nor does it use the Linux kernel. Haiku adopts design and concepts introduced in BeOS™ and take these to the next level by fusing them with recent advances.

Most of the Haiku code is released under the very liberal MIT License. Some third party components (e.g.: some media codecs, libraries, etc.) may use other licenses.

Banshee 1.7.0 Released

Banshee 1.7.0, the first of the 1.7 beta series leading to 1.8, has been released.

Banshee 1.7.0 is the first of the unstable 1.7 series, leading up to a stable 1.8 release in the fall. It contains many bug fixes for 1.6.0, as well as new features and enhancements.

MySource Matrix 3.26.4 Released

MySource Matrix Content Management System (CMS) announced MySource Matrix 3.26.4. This new version contains 27 bug fixes, plus an enhancement to Workflow Step custom subject lines, new Global Keyword Replacements for Site Special Pages, and a Make SOAP Call Form Submission Action. All users currently running 3.26.3 should upgrade to this new version.
